This morning I was awaken at the ripe young hour of 11 o'clock. My friend, Destiny, was coming in from Berkeley and she was taking me to the De Young Museum. So, I forced myself out of bed, and dragged Alex along with me. Normally, he'd make a big beautiful Sunday breakfast, however his back was killing him, so we opted to go out and grab a bite. Since it was so late, we went for a barbecue joint that's around the corner from our place, Askew Grill, or something like that. It looked quite promising. However, after we quickly realized that our mashed potatoes were from a box, and that they were the best part of the meal, we were less impressed.
We raced home, just in time to meet up with my bud, and after dumping my injured husband in bed, we were off to the De Young. For those of you who don't know, the De Young, is an art museum in the heart of Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. If you're in the area, I highly recommend it, it was quiet a treat. They had a beautiful building, and even more beautiful art inside! There's a tower that looks like an upside down ice cream cone (in shape only) and it has the best 360 degree view of the city. It's free, so check it out! The rest of the museum was great! My favorite was the Quilts of Gee's Bend. It's a collection of (you guessed it!) quilts from this tiny place in Alabama. The quilts range in age from 4 - 150 years old. They're definitely something to be seen.
Oh, you might be wondering about the picture. I bought this poster in the museum shop today. I liked it, and once I realized it was of San Francisco, I like it even more. All and all, a pretty good day....for me anyway, poor Alex is still in bed! Think healthy back thoughts for him!!!!
