Tonight Alex and I, joined by our good friend Tamra, saw our first movie at the Sundance Film Festival, "Thank You For Smoking." (Click for info.)
Usually Alex and I try to see movies without so big names, because we like to see movies that might not be released. With this movie we made an exception.
And, I'm glad we did, because it was hilarious!!!! I wouldn't see it if you don't get or like dry trending into just plan wrong humor. This film is among the dead baby joke line of comedy. And those of you that know me know that I enjoy a good dead baby joke.
The main character played by, Aaron Eckhart is a cigarette lobbyist. His job is to spin the truth about smoking, and of course keep it cool. The movie deals heavily with the relationship he has with his young son, played by, Cameron Bright. The had some great scenes together that challenged the typical father-son bonding portrayed in movies.
The acting by all, including the great and wonderful, William H. Macy (a favorite of mine) was wonderful, the story was different and fun, and the interesting flow of the movie had me forgetting how freezing and snowy it was in line to get into the movie.
It has already been picked up by Fox Searchlight, so look for it this Spring!

I wish I was at Sundance, you lucky Kessingers! I'm at 26 days and counting with the 'no smoking' so by the time this movie is available for us common folks to see I will be about ready for the laugh.
