It's Thursday morning. Jonah is napping, and Audrey got to fill a last minute spot at school, so I should be curled up in bed sleeping my morning away. For those of you unaware I had some complications with a certain form of birth control that resulted in ridiculous surgery this past Friday. I'm healing up fine, and everything will be back to normal soon, but the whole ordeal has really turned me off of birth control. Most methods trick your body into thinking that you're pregnant, and so you can't get pregnant. They use hormones, and things that I don't really understand. The problem with that for me, is that I don't really want my body thinking it's pregnant.... I was pregnant for too long, thank you. When you're body thinks it's pregnant, it keeps as much fat as possible for the baby making it hard to loose weight. And, after being pregnant as much as I have weight is something that I can stand to loose. Plus, there's all the moody consequences, lowering your libido and having to take it every day. The obvious alternative is condoms, but I'm a grown married woman, I feel like I've earned the right to not use a freakin' condom.
There's the rhythm method of course, some folks swear by it. I'm not sure though, I feel like maybe there are people too fertile for that, and Alex and myself are those people.... we don't need another baby anytime soon. And, getting my tubes tied, or getting him a vasectomy seems too final. I know we say we're done, and I feel done... but we're 26... who knows what's in store for us. If only there was a birth control that didn't make you gain weight, wasn't clumsy and awkward, and wasn't something you had to remember on a daily basis. Sigh, well... I guess I'll take my pill.
